How the Plant Populations in the Biosphere Changes from One Season to the Next
Plants are found in all climates from the
coldest to the hottest - from the highest altitudes to the
bottom of the deepest oceans. No matter what area of the world
is studied, the landscape changes at different times of year
and so do the sorts of organisms found there.

What differences can be observed between a forest in
spring and a forest in winter? |

|
Winter poses serious problems for plants. |
|
 |
When a pond, a wood, a field or a garden is closely observed
at different times of the year, changes can be observed in the plants (and
animals) found there. In the middle of winter there seems to be very little
life. Then, in the spring and the summer, the same places are teeming with life.
Where does it all come from? Where did it go during the winter months?
